Governors
The team of Governors at Tunbury comprises a group of local people with a range of experience and expertise who are representatives of the local community. Our task is to have a thorough working knowledge of the school and make a point of spending time in the school meeting the children, parents and staff. The Governing Body works collectively as a ‘whole team’, meeting at least six times per year, always at least once in each term, without any separate committees.
The main responsibilities of the Governing Body are:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction. We focus on helping in the school’s strategy for improvement so that pupils learn most effectively, achieve the highest standards and develop into well-balanced and caring members of the wider society.
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff. We provide the Head Teacher and staff with support, advice and information, drawing upon members’ knowledge, experience and expertise.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
- Ensuring the voices of stakeholders are heard.
Governors can be contacted via the school office.
