Re-opening Update Year 6
Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers
This week's wider re-opening has been successful, with Year R already back in school and Year 1 joining us tomorrow. We are now ready to proceed with our plans for welcoming Year 6 back to school from Monday 8th June. Please tell us whether your child will be returning to school next week using the online form at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TunburyYear6June8. You may wish to refer to the guidance at www.tunbury.kent.sch.uk/News to help you to decide, including the Friday 22nd May bulletin.
When the online forms closes on Friday morning, teachers will work together to create our new teaching groups for our returning children. The details of your child’s group and allocated entry/exit time slots will then be emailed to you during that afternoon. We’re sorry, but we won’t be able to place or move children between teaching groups to accommodate parental preferences. Teachers will do their best to ensure children are with known adults and established friendships wherever possible, but please remember that they may not be in their normal classroom, with all of their classmates or with their normal class teacher.
If you do not wish your child to return to school, you do not need to take any action now. If your child has already been attending school under the key worker/vulnerable child provision, then they can continue to attend – you don’t need to let us know. These children will join their peers in the Year 6 teaching groups. If your child is eligible for key worker/vulnerable child provision and you would like them to attend school for the first time, please fill in the online form but enter ‘Key Worker’ after your child’s name.
On Monday morning, Year 6 children will enter the school via the side gate and walk straight into their classrooms via the external doors. However, if your child has younger siblings attending school, all siblings should enter and exit school together at the gate for the youngest child in the family group.
We are working hard to make the return to school as safe as possible for children, staff and parents/carers. This does mean that school life feels very different to 'normal'. However, so far we have been impressed by the positive attitude and adaptability shown by our children throughout this period. We look forward to welcoming our oldest students back into school next week.
Thank you for your continued support.
