Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for joining us on Wednesday afternoon for our Platinum Jubilee celebrations.  We were lucky with the weather (just about!) and it was brilliant to be able to bring the whole school community together to celebrate the Jubilee.  After watching the national celebrations over half term, it’s great that we were able to play our part at Tunbury.  Although Her Majesty was not able to attend, I’m sure that she would have liked one of Rosie’s ice creams or a football kickabout on the field!

Congratulations to our Football team who took part in Mini Youth Games tournament at Anchorians yesterday.  We are incredibly proud of our team, which consisted of: Alfie, Olly, Max, Bella, Heidi, Hayden, Samuel, Kieran, Henry and Aimee-Grace.  Every player displayed outstanding teamwork skills by supporting each other and communicating effectively, playing in a number of different positions.  The team competed in the tournament alongside 32 other schools, playing 8 matches throughout the day.  We finished the day unbeaten and were placed an amazing 5th out of the 33 schools.  The children would also like to say a huge thank you to Aimee-Grace's parents who very kindly bought each of them an ice cream - a gesture which was very much appreciated by all!  Thank you to our PE leader Mrs Stallard and our IT technician (and football coach) Mr Sanders for supporting the team through the day.  Once again, well done to Team Tunbury for continuing to make us proud.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Ruth Austin

TSA: Thanks are conveyed to all those who helped with the Jubilee Picnic on Wednesday especially Denise Waters who helped set up and all the year 6 helpers who untangled the bunting and decorated the playground so lovely. And not forgetting Carol Park and her ice cream van Rosie. Around £167 was raised, which is amazing.

Children may buy more than one gift, if you’d like them to. Please send the correct money in an envelope marked with your child's name, class and how many gifts they would like to buy. Please see the flier in the parents-letters and forms section for more details.
