Weekly Bulletin: Friday 12th September 2025

Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

In today’s bulletin, we’re sharing a very long list of dates for the whole academic year.  Please scroll down to the Diary Dates and Class Assemblies section to see them all.  We always try hard to keep you informed of dates as far in advance as possible, as school life is very much a community effort!  We want the whole of Team Tunbury (children, staff and parents/carers) to get involved in as many events as possible…. so please take a look at the dates for Open Afternoons, Class Assemblies, TSA events, Sports Day and lots more beside.  Thank you for being part of our school team.

All members of our school team have different responsibilities and at the start of each school year, we remind you of our Home School Agreement.  While this is something you will have first seen when your children joined us in Reception, it does apply all the way your child’s Tunbury journey.  Having worked in many different primary schools over the last few decades, I do know the Tunbury school community is especially supportive, making this school a fabulous place to work, learn or visit.  Tunbury children are fortunate to benefit from a high level of home support, so thank you for taking the time and effort to hear your child read, practice their times tables, show an interest in their education, get them to school on time, make sure they look super smart in their school uniform – this could really be an endless list of a normal day for a busy Mum, Dad or carer!  The relevant section of our Home School Agreement is as follows:

As a Tunbury family, we will:

  • Value the importance of education and encourage my child to work hard at school.
  • Ensure my child attends school punctually and regularly.
  • Contact the school if my child is absent.
  • Ensure that my child wears the correct school uniform and school shoes.
  • Support my child with reading at home, homework and other opportunities for home learning.
  • Support the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Uphold the school’s approach to online safety and our Acceptable Use Policy, for example by not sharing any pictures, video or text that could upset, offend or threaten the safety of any member of the school community.
  • Provide a good role model for my child by always treating staff and all children with respect and courtesy.
  • Attend Parent Evenings to discuss my child’s progress.
  • Uphold our school values: Thriving, Proactive and Solidarity.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Ruth Austin
