Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week, it is Thriving Week in school.

As you’ll know, at Tunbury Primary School (TPS), our three school values are Thriving, Proactive and Solidarity (TPS).

Our first school value is Thriving because we want the school community to flourish and be successful together.

To explain this further: We will all contribute to and share in a safe, positive and fair atmosphere, which allows everyone to blossom.  This enables us to thrive as an individuals and as part of a team.  We support each other through successes and challenges, to help us grow as individuals.

But what does this actually mean for children?

  • Taking pride in your own achievements
  • Celebrating the success of your peers (however big or small this might be)
  • Being patient (not all children are the same)
  • Encouraging others
  • Taking action when someone else needs help
  •  Being kind and supportive
  • Always trying your best
  • Making our school a happy place

This week, children in every class have been taking extra care to show the school value of Thriving.  By doing so, they might have earned extra Team Points or had their name added to their in-class Recognition Boards.  Across the school, we have seen so many lovely examples of children showing our value of Thriving.  Can your child explain to you what it means to be Thriving?

Huge congratulations to our netball team, who represented Team Tunbury at the Mini Youth Games on Tuesday. Supported by Mrs Nelson and Mrs Gladdish (our netball experts) the team played 8 games throughout the day, winning 2 games and scoring lots of great goals.  This was the first time that this group had played together as a team, and they swapped positions throughout the matches to show excellent skills right across the court.  Great teamwork, resilience and togetherness!  Well done!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best wishes
