Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

Today we had a special visit from our local MP, Tracey Crouch.  Tracey came into school to talk to children in assemblies, as well as meeting with our own democratically elected representatives, our school council.  Tracey talked to children and answered their questions on a wide range of issues, such as litter and the environment, how an MP helps people, whether the Queen runs the country and what inspired her to become an MP.  Tracey encouraged children to be proud of their local area and to stand up for what they believe in.  Our School Councillors had a further meeting with Tracey where they found out more about Boris Johnson (with questions like “why is his hair so scruffy?”) as well as how they can make a difference for their school and the importance of activism.

Congratulations to everyone in Year 6 for completing their KS2 SATs testing this week.  We have been so impressed with the universally positive attitude shown by each and every one of our brilliant Year 6 pupils - they have met every challenge with determination and confidence.  Well done everybody!  Also, thank you to parents/carers for ensuring that we had 100% attendance in Year 6 from Monday-Thursday this week, enabling the tests to be completed on time.  The return of SATs is another sign that we are back to normal school life, although they’re not quite as much fun as some of our other ‘post-Covid-disruption’ events like class assemblies, sports days and school trips!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Tunbury win gold at National Schools Snowsports! Congratulations to Joshua and Leo, who competed in the final of the National Schools Snowsports Association at Swadlincote on Friday 6 May. Their combined individual slalom ski race times won Tunbury the Overall Primary School win, competing against 11 primary schools.  Both Joshua and Leo also took the podium in their individual age categories. We’re really proud of you both – well done!

Joshua and Leo are members of Chatham Race Club, so if you are keen to learn more about skiing and racing on the dry slope, please contact them at secretary@chathamraceclub.co.uk or visit Chatham Snowsports Centre, Capstone Road.

School Ties: We now have stock of school ties available in the school office to buy - £3.50 each. If you would like to purchase a tie please pay via School Money. Following payment, please collect your tie from the school office.

Dog Owners Reminder:  we understand that the school run is a good opportunity to walk your dog and encourages you to walk to school rather than drive as well.  However, some members of our school community find walking past the number of dogs around both gates unnerving.  We all have fears and for some, theirs is a fear of dogs.  Please can we ask dog owners to continue to be mindful of this during the busy drop-off time and that you ensure you keep back from the school gates, that your dog is beside you and you do not allow them to jump up at children or families.  May we also remind you that dogs are not permissible on the school premises at any time.  Thank you in advance for your understanding and consideration in this matter.

TSA Krispy Kreme donut sale: On Thursday 26th May TSA will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts after school on the top playground. If you would like to pre order please see the TSA Facebook page for further information.

School Crossing Patrol: We’re still looking for a new SCP. The original KCC online advert is still available at: Cantium (recruitmenthub.solutions) and this advert shows the correct details for the role.  We have been told of a more ‘interesting’ salary being advertised for the same role at School Crossing Patrol Officer Jobs - 2022 | Indeed.com but we are sorry to say that, sadly, these details are incorrect!!
