Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
In our penultimate week of the school year, we have finished this term’s program of Open Afternoons, with events for Year 5, Year R, Year 4 and Year 6 all taking place this week. Our oldest and youngest year groups both chose food-related themes – always a good idea! Year R read the story of Handa’s Surprise and then chopped, peeled and tasted fruit to make their own fruit kebabs. Year 6 children spent the morning making their own scones, which were cooked in the school kitchen and then shared with visitors for the annual Year 6 Afternoon Tea. All of our events had a lovely positive atmosphere and great Tunbury Teamwork.
Thank you for helping your children get involved in today’s ‘Dare to be Different Day’ and donating to our TSA. Tunbury is a very colourful school today!
Today, children are bringing home their annual reports, so please retrieve the white envelopes from their bags when you see them after school. Please read the report and talk to your child about the achievements they are most proud of this academic year. If you have any queries about your child’s annual report, please do contact their current class teacher – we send our reports home one week before the end of term to allow time for these conversations to take place.
Next week may be the last week of term, but we have plenty to look forward to…. Children will be finishing their learning in this year’s topics, as well as looking forward to the new school year. Year 6 will be staging their production of “I’m an 11 year old, get me out of here!” which already looks and sounds fantastic. We also have our end of term i-Rock performance to parents/carers on Thursday morning.
Good news – although we had been unsure whether our Ofsted report would be published in time for the end of this academic year, we have now received it in school. This means that we are allowed to publish it to you on Monday. We are looking forward to sharing it with you.
Finally, for parents/carers of children in Year 6, we hope that everybody enjoys the Year 6 Prom in school this evening. Children will be looking super smart and I know that lots of hard work has gone into planning this special event, so thank you for this. Have fun everyone!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Ruth Austin
