Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week, Year R had a wonderful afternoon on Wednesday with a special workshop all about apples.  Children tasted crunchy apples and pressed some apples to make delicious fresh apple juice.  This was part of their ‘super growing’ topic where children learn about how things grow and change.  We also had our Year 1 Open Afternoon where children and families created moon buggies together, which was a great team effort.  Amazing what you can create with an egg box, lots of accessories and some big ideas!

Also this week, our Year 6 children have been sitting their SATs tests – great job Year 6!  We’ve been so proud of their wonderful attitude, maturity, resilience and determination.  Tests are never our favourite moment of school life, but Team Tunbury children showed proactivity and solidarity right throughout the week.  At the end of the last test yesterday, one child’s first remarks were “next stop GCSEs!” – how very forward-thinking!

Today, we’re looking forward to the TSA Colour Run this afternoon.  Hopefully the weather will be kind to us - ideally, we’re hoping for sunshine for the event itself, followed by rain afterwards to wash the field!  As well as the Colour Run, we’ll have refreshments including the ice cream van and music from DJ Rich.  Thank you for supporting your children in this event and we look forward to seeing everyone later on.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Ruth Austin
