Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
Congratulations to children in Year 1 and Year 2 for their wonderful Christmas performances this week. We were all so proud to see them take to the stage with such confidence and enjoyment. We know that our Christmas nativities create happy memories for children, as well as for their Mums and Dads! Despite the lack of rehearsal time due to Monday’s snow day, children did a marvellous job and warmed all of our hearts in this cold weather. Great work everyone! For our older children, we are sorry that we had to cancel our Carols on the Playground, but the icy conditions have made this impossible this week.
Thank you for your support in keeping children’s attendance so high this week, despite the snowy conditions. After not being able to open on Monday, it’s been fantastic to have almost all of our children back in school from Tuesday – Friday this week, enjoying their last week of learning and our special Christmas events. The snow and ice have been a real challenge, but we are so grateful to our wonderful Site Manager Mr Barrett for going ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty in enabling us to re-open on Tuesday and stay open all this week. Tunbury is a big school site, with many gates, paths and entrances, all of which were cleared by Mr Barrett himself – what a super-hero!
On the last day of term, we know that children have lots to look forward to over their Christmas holidays - we wish all of our families a joyful Christmas break. We know that our children are just a little bit excited about Christmas, so have a wonderful time together.
We look forward to seeing children back in school next term on Wednesday 4th January.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Best wishes
Ruth Austin
Headteacher
