Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
This week, we have re-started our extra-curricular clubs for the Spring term. One of my favourite moments of the week was seeing an excited group of children dancing in the hall, learning some new moves with our Sports Coach in Dance club. We also have after-school clubs for Art, Chess, Coding, Dodgeball (always a Tunbury favourite!), Girls’ Football, Netball, Musicals Singing, Ukulele and Young Voices. We do try to cater for a wide range of interests every term, so if you or your child have any suggestions for future clubs, please do let us know.
We do still have some spaces in Debate Club and Girls Football Club on Mondays, Netball Club on Tuesdays and Ukulele club on Thursdays. To request a space in any of these clubs, please email into the school office. Please include your child’s name, class and the club they’d like to join.
As well as after-school clubs, we have a range of memorable opportunities for children to look forward to, or look back on with happy memories. Today, we have some amazing animals coming to visit our Year 1 children in school – I’ve heard there may even be a snake! Also today, we have our first Mini Youth Games sports event of the year, with our Year 5/6 children taking part in the swimming gala. Later in the year, we’ll be sending Year 5/6 Tunbury teams to the cricket, football and athletics Mini Youth Games tournaments. Also for the sports teams, we’ll be arranging football and netball tournaments with our neighbouring schools again this year. Next week, our Young Voices choir have their big day with their trip to the O2 – they have been rehearsing the songs every week since September, ready for their performance with 1000s of other children from other schools. Children love to participate in special events like this, and we love to share in their success!
Speaking of sharing in children’s success, we know that Tunbury children are super talented and very busy outside school with some fabulous achievements in sports clubs, teams or other hobbies. Just a reminder that if children would like to show any trophies, certificates or special achievements from these activities, they are warmly invited to do so by bringing these to their Phase Assemblies (where our weekly Tunbury Awards are also given out). These assemblies are on Tuesdays for Years 5 and 6 and on Wednesdays for all other year groups.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Best wishes
Ruth Austin

Strive February Half Term Club: Our Strive PE & Sport Multi-Activity Camp is returning to Tunbury Primary this February half term break for one day only! Children will enjoy a fun-filled and active day, including games, sports, and themed activities - all led by qualified staff.

OPAL - craft materials required: Please can you send in any clean small bottles, yoghurt pots and egg boxes for our children to use for craft projects at lunchtimes. Please put your donations in the yellow grit bin on the top playground by the school gate. Thank you.

Spare clothes needed: If you have any spare uniform that you could donate, Year R, 1 and 2 would be really grateful. We are in need of jogging bottoms (black/blue) as well as spare knickers, pants and socks. These donations mean we can change the children when they have accidents or they fall over at playtimes so they can continue with their day in warm clothes. Please give your donations to your child's class teacher.
Many thanks, Year R, 1 and 2 Team
