Weekly Bulletin: Friday 21st April 2023
Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the start of Term 5! The sun may or may not be shining (it was on Monday!) and we are all set for a happy and successful term, with lots to look forward to.
Thank you to those parents and carers who have already completed our annual parent survey, which was shared with you this week. We already have 44 responses, which is a great start. We genuinely do want to hear from you! We need contributions from as many of you as possible, as we do base future decision-making on the views of our community members (parents/carers, staff and children). Thank you for your support and contributions.
Something new to share - we now have a library of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) books in the main school office for parents/carers to borrow. These books can be taken home so that you can read them with your children, to help explain or discuss some tricky issues. The issues covered by our PSHE library are death, separation, puberty, human conception and adoption. You can view the full list of titles and the front covers of the books on the PSHE page of our school website here: Tunbury Primary School - PSHE (Books can be borrowed for 1 week at a time, or 3 weeks for the chapter book ‘I, Cosmo’. We hope that you will find our PSHE Library useful, so please do make use of it – it is there for you!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Best wishes
Ruth Austin
Headteacher

Safeguarding: From the start of this term, Mrs Davies is now our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Our Deputy DSLs are Mr Taylor, Miss Stevens, Mrs Austin and Mrs Kidd. More information on Safeguarding at Tunbury, including our Safeguarding Policy, is available on the Safeguarding page of our school website.
2023 Parent/Carer Survey: Our annual parent/carer survey is now open at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TPSparent2023
At Team Tunbury, we are thriving, we are proactive and we show solidarity.... please embody our three school values by sharing your views! Please complete our survey to help us celebrate our achievements, as well as identifying priorities for next academic year.
We understand the importance of gathering the views of different groups within our school community. For this reason,
- we hold annual surveys for children, staff and parent/carers
- we listen carefully to what we learn from our surveys
We acted on the results of last year’s parent survey, for example by offering you a choice of online or in-person appointments on all of our parent evening sessions this year.
Thank you for considering your responses and sharing your thoughts with as much detail as possible in this year’s survey. The survey should take about 10 minutes for you to complete and is open until Friday 5th May.
Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III: To celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, we will be holding our very own Coronation Celebration at Tunbury School on Friday 5th May from 2pm - 4pm.
You are welcome to collect your children from their usual classrooms at 2pm and then join us for music, a variety of inflatable activities, food and drinks and our very popular ice cream van! Let’s come together as a community to celebrate this momentous occasion in our history!
Afterschool Clubs: Our afterschool clubs for Term 5 and 6 start next week. Bookings opened at 6pm last night via School Interviews. There are currently still spaces available in all clubs except Dodgeball, Lego, Summer Sports and YR & 1 Multi Skills. Bookings are still open, please refer to our letter emailed out on Wednesday afternoon for details on how to book a space.
Outdoor classroom/ gazebo: Unfortunately, wet conditions on the school field prevented the delivery of the panels for our new TSA-funded gazebo – like the Police Car that came to visit Reception in the last week of term, our delivery van literally got stuck in the mud! This meant that our gazebo construction could not go ahead in the Easter holidays, as planned. It will still go ahead this summer and we will keep you posted.
Weekly Class Attendance: This is a weekly feature on our bulletin to highlight and celebrate good levels of attendance. In the first week of Term 5, Crimson Class are our KS2 winners with almost perfect attendance. Bears Class are our KS1 stars this week. Well done!
