Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
This week we have a couple of community offers to share, as well as publication of our New Entrants events.
Would you like to join us for our MacMillan Coffee Morning, which is next Friday after drop-off, 9am to 10am? Whether you’re new to Team Tunbury or have been here longer than me, please do come along for a chat and some cake. You’ll see Macmillan posters appearing around school next week as a reminder for Friday.
Would you like to start volunteering in school to listen to our lovely children read? This is suitable for parents/carers or other relatives with any spare time. We’re looking for new volunteers this year and we will train and support you, so please do get in touch at office@tunbury.kent.sch.uk

MacMillan Coffee Morning: Join us in the Small Hall on Friday 2nd October from 9am until 10am for our MacMillan Coffee Morning. We would love parents and carers to join us to enjoy a hot drink, a sweet treat and a chat in support of a fantastic cause. We are kindly asking for cake donations (bought or homemade) which can be brought in from Monday 28th September (please ensure a list of ingredients is clearly displayed on all items to help us manage allergies safely.) Thank you for your generosity, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Volunteers in School:

Dinosaur lunch and menu change: There will be a special Dinosaur themed lunch on Thursday next week. This can be booked and paid for via the SchoolGateway app in the usual way. In addition, on Wednesday 7th October there will be a change to the dessert published. The school kitchen will be serving Angel Delight on Wednesday 7th October.

Flu Vaccination Programme: Monday 30th November for all year groups. Please see the letter which was emailed last week and published in the Parents – Letters and Forms section of our website: www.tunbury.kent.sch.uk/Parents/Letters-Forms/. Please note the e-consent portal closes at 4 pm on 25th November, and NHS cannot accept late consents or consents on the day of vaccination.
If any parents/carers are having issues completing the online consent form, please call the immunisation team via: Text chat: 07700140385 Live chat via website: www.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms Email: kchft.cyp-immunisationteam@nhs.net Telephone: 0300 123 5205
Weekly Class Attendance: This is a weekly feature on our bulletin to highlight and celebrate good levels of attendance. Our top class in KS1 is Owls class and our KS2 winners are Lilac Class! Great work!

Tunbury Primary School Facebook: Please take a look at Tunbury Primary School | Chatham | Facebook and follow us to keep up to date with all things Team Tunbury. This week we’ve posted about our brand new Opal area and our New Entrants meetings!
Opal programme: As you know, we’ve been working with the Opal (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme since January 2025 to totally transform Tunbury lunchtimes. At the end of last term, we even had one of our neighbouring primary schools visit us and be inspired by what children experience at a Tunbury lunchtime. This week, we’ve opened the new Large Loose Parts zone - ask your child to tell you what this is!
As we’ve come so far, we wanted to gather feedback to compare to the baseline surveys we did for parents/carers, children and staff at the beginning of this journey. Please could you help us by completing this quick survey. The survey closes on Monday so this is the last chance to contribute. Thank you.
