This week, we also have news on our new Parent Governor. Our successful candidate for the Parent Governor post is Christian Hauser, who is Dad to two Tunbury children in Year 5 and Year 1. As there was only one candidate, Christian is successful without the need for an election, so congratulations and thank you for stepping forward for this important role.
Today, we held our House Team meetings to elect the Year 6 House Captains and Vice Captains for 2025/26. A huge well done to all of our Year 6 children who stepped forward for election – we are so proud of all of you! After a vote from children in each house team, the successful candidates were as follows. Congratulations - we look forward to seeing you announcing the team points in Friday assemblies and waving your team flags at Sports Day!
Rowling Team: Lilah (House Captain) and Harlan (Vice Captain)
Attenborough Team: Florence J (House Captain) and Leo H (Vice Captain)
Holmes Team: Petal (House Captain) and Jamie (Vice Captain)
Hawking Team: Elliott S (House Captain) and Kai (Vice Captain)
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Best wishes

Harvest assemblies and donations: Thank you for the Harvest donations being sent into school. Reverend Roe from Walderslade Baptist Church, will be leading our harvest assemblies on Wednesday 30th September. After our harvest assemblies, Medway food bank will be collecting the donations. If you are able to donate to this worthy cause, please see below a list of items which Medway food bank are currently in need of:

Welly Boots: Thank you to everyone who has already sent in wellies for their child to keep in school. We have two fabulous storage areas that were built over the summer break where the children will be able to store their wellies. We are keen to use the school field for as much of the year as is possible, and would ask that all children keep a named pair of welly boots in school. Having wellies in school will allow children to play on the field during the autumn and winter months.
October Half Term Activity Club: This is running exclusively for Tunbury pupils from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM on Tuesday 21st October, Wednesday 22nd October and Thursday 23rd October, another fun-filled programme packed with engaging activities, creativity, and plenty of smiles. Bookings are now open at: Tunbury Primary Multi-Activity Camp - Current Students Only | Pebble
Travel to school: We conducted travel surveys in all classes last Friday and here is a snapshot of the results. Currently, almost half of our children travel to school by car and one third walk. Moving forwards, we’ll be working on initiatives to promote responsible parking outside school and reduce car use by encouraging families to walk to school – more news on this to follow.

Weekly Class Attendance: This is a weekly feature on our bulletin to highlight and celebrate good levels of attendance. In KS1, our winners are Red Class with a brilliant 98.33%. Great work from Red Class. Emerald Class are our KS2 winners with another 98.33%. Keep up the fantastic work!
