Headteacher’s message to parents/carers

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week, we’ve had two school trips, with Year 5 going to Wildwood and Year 4 going to Rochester, both as part of their curriculum studies.  I love hearing what children say when they return from these type of experiences.  Children in Year 5 said:

“I liked the rainforest workshop.  It was fascinating to learn about the cool animals.”

“It was a little scary to walk through the wobbly bridge over the bears.”

“The artic fox was so cute!”

Children in Year 4 said:

“I’ve just walked 11,590 steps!”

“My 14-times Great Grandad is on a plaque in Rochester.”

“We were complimented on our behaviour in the sweet shop.”

Today, we’re currently all outside on the field enjoying our Sports Day.  This is one of our favourite events of the school year, as it’s an opportunity for our whole school community to come together, supporting our wonderful Tunbury children.  I know that days like this are memorable - I can remember my own primary school sports days as a child, even though they were a long, long time ago!

Sports Day is important for lots of reasons, including strengthening our teamwork and developing positive character traits.  To explore this, in Monday’s assembly, children thought about what teamwork means.  Can you (or your child) find 4 teamwork truths and 2 teamwork myths in the following list of 6?

  1. Teamwork means together everyone achieves more.
  2. Teamwork means you always win.
  3. Teamwork means everyone brings different strengths to the team
  4. Teamwork means we all need to join in.
  5. Teamwork means I have to go first.
  6. Teamwork means I have to listen to other people.

Thank you for being part of Team Tunbury.  We hope that you all have a great day at Sports Day today.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Best wishes

Ruth Austin

This is going to be a huge event with something for everyone, so please come along and support our TSA in raising as much money as we can to enrich the experiences of the children at our school.  This year, TSA funds have paid for the OPAL project, which has been fantastic for all of our children.
