Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
This morning, we have had our first House Team meetings of the new school year, where children from Attenborough, Holmes, Rowling and Hawking gather together. In the summer term, we normally hold our House Team meetings outside in the four corners of the field, but today we were indoors in order to elect new House Captains. We’re so proud of all the Year 6 children who put themselves forward for election to these roles. Children made a short speech to their house team to explain why they wanted to be a House Captain, and then children in each house voted to decide the winners. We’re excited to share the results, which are that the following children have been elected House Captains for 2024-25. Congratulations!

Regarding our other Pupil Leadership vacancies, we have had an overwhelming response from children throughout the school. All applications are now being shortlisted and invites to interviews will be sent out soon. It’s wonderful to see our children so enthusiastic about leadership roles in the school!
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Best wishes
Ruth Austin

Summer Writing Challenge: Well done to all children who completed some of the Summer Writing Challenge this year. Mrs Davies and Mrs Fitzgerald, our English Subject Leaders, really enjoyed sharing the children’s writing with them reading about the adventures they got up to over the summer break. All of the children have received (or will receive next week) their certificates and team points for completing the challenge. A very special well done to the following children who completed every writing activity on the challenge which demonstrated amazing commitment: Robin, Oscar and Loki (all from Year 5).
Harvest Festival: On Tuesday 8th October we will be welcoming Reverend Roe from Walderslade Baptist Church to lead our Harvest assemblies. We will be giving thanks for the things we have in our lives and thinking about how we can support others who may be less fortunate. With this in mind, we are asking children to come into school with donations of unused, non-perishable goods for the Medway Foodbank (see shopping list in the letters and forms section for suggested items). These goods will be part of our Harvest display for the week and will then be donated to the foodbank. Donations can be handed to class teachers on any day from Wednesday 9th – Tuesday 15th October. Thank you for your support.
Flu Immunisation: Tuesday 26th November 2024 for Years R, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Please see the letter which was emailed last week and published in the Parents – Letters and Forms section of our website. Please note the e-consent portal closes on 20/11/24, 6 days before our school’s immunisation session, and NHS cannot accept late consents or consents on the day of vaccination.
