Weekly Bulletin: Friday 30th June 2023
Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for joining us for today’s Sports Day, currently taking place right now on the school field! A full report on Sports Day will follow in next week’s bulletin.
Thank you to everyone who supported Team Tunbury by attending our Summer Fair last Saturday afternoon. It was a lovely occasion and due to the beautiful weather, I didn’t even mind taking my turn in the stocks!
A huge well done to our hardworking TSA volunteers, especially Claire Pryer, who led the TSA at the event and didn’t stop all day long. Also, thank you and well done to our brilliant Year 6 children who took responsibility for running different stalls, showing such maturity and dedication. TSA fundraising is important because it allows us to invest in extra projects which benefit all Tunbury children, such as our brand new gazebo on the school field, which is already proving extremely popular.
This week, we were delighted to see the completion of our Year 2-4 Phase Art project, which is this magnificent mural. It has been painted on the wall facing the KS2 Quiet Area, outside the school hall. This is a beautiful collaborative artwork, led by our mural artist Andy Pinder and assisted by every child in Years 2, 3 and 4. Great job everyone! Children took turns to paint a section of the mural – if your child was involved, can they show you which section of tree bark is theirs? Please feel free to come and take a look with your child, at home time any day next week.
Following the completion of this Year 2-4 mural as well as our Year R-1 mosaic, it’s now the turn of our Year 5-6 phase…. We can’t wait to share their completed art project with you next week.
Also next week, we’re looking forward to our whole-school transition day on Thursday 6th July. Children will come into school as normal and be dismissed from their normal classrooms, but they will spend the day in their new classrooms with their new teachers (including our teachers who are new to Tunbury). At the end of the day, we have an Open Classroom session from 3.15-3.45, where children can show you their new classrooms and you can say hello to their new teachers. We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Best wishes
Ruth Austin
