Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are looking forward to our Tunbury Coronation Celebration this afternoon. Our gates open at 1.55 for you to come into school to collect children at 2.00, then take them onto the school field for our celebration event which is open from 2.00-4.00. We have music, refreshments and lots of inflatables for children to enjoy! A huge thank you to Mrs Fitzgerald for organising the event and our TSA for funding the inflatables – we hope that children have a memorable time and enjoy the celebrations. It’s wonderful to be able to come together as a school community for historic events such as this. Now, all we need is some sunshine ….
Thank you for all the responses we have received so far for our annual parent/carer survey. The survey closes TODAY so it’s now your last chance to share your views. Alongside the parent/carer survey, we’re also gathering views of other Team Tunbury members though our annual pupil survey and annual staff survey. Taken together, these three surveys are so important in making sure that every voice is heard – we celebrate our successes, as well as thinking about how we could make Tunbury Primary School an even better place to learn. We are so proud of our children’s achievements and as we move towards the end of this academic year, learning is at top speed! We’re incredibly proud of all the progress made so far. Year 2 and Year 6 children will be showing off their skills in the end of key stage SATs and looking ahead to next week, a quick reminder that for our Year 6 children, our SATs breakfast is open every day Tuesday-Friday next week (free of charge). Year 6 children, please come into school via the Hall doors at 8.00 each morning to enjoy a delicious breakfast! Thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for preparing this for us.

Our Learning: Year 1
This Term in Year 1 we have been enjoying the story 'The Man on the Moon’. We have been writing postcards after a visit to the Moon. We created posters advertising the Moon and made suggestions for possible souvenirs that Bob could sell on his souvenir stand. We drew an alien and used adjectives to describe what they were like.
In Maths we have been learning early multiplication skills including grouping, sharing and using arrays. We have also being practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
In topic we have been finding out about our planet including developing a locational awareness. We have focused on the United Kingdom and have been finding out facts about the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. We have learnt about the roles of the Sun and Moon and created mechanisms to demonstrate this. We have worked scientifically to carry out an investigation on how craters are formed on the Moon.

RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) Policy consultation: Our RSE policy is reviewed and approved annually by Tunbury Primary School’s Governing Body. We are not suggesting any major changes to the policy this year, but we are consulting with Tunbury parents/carers as part of this annual review. This is to provide you with an opportunity to understand and ask questions about our approach to teaching RSE. Dodgeball club reminder: Mr Kent's after school Dodgeball club today will not be taking place due to the Coronation celebrations.
Road Crossing Patrol: Unfortunately we have had no success recruiting a road patrol for our school, KCC have released another advert via the KCC Jobs Portal which can be found at the following link:

Art in the style of Henri Rousseau Come and join Year 5 as they link their rainforest topic with art work by Rousseau. Prior to your visit the children will have painted the background and mid-ground and this parent visit will culminate in creating the foreground of our rainforest using a multi-media effect. |

Afternoon Tea This will be an opportunity for parents to join our Year 6 pupils in the hall for an afternoon of celebration. Class assemblies
Class assemblies will be held in the school hall on Friday afternoons. Parents/carers and family members from each class are warmly invited to join us in school for these events, as our children love to share their learning with you. Please come to the front of the school and wait outside the hall entrance doors. You will be invited in at approximately 2.45 pm. The assembly will begin at 2.50 pm and last for about 10 minutes, finishing in time for you to collect your children at the end of the school day, as normal.
