Weekly Bulletin:Thursday 21st July 2022
Headteacher’s message to parents/carers
I would like to start our bulletin with a huge thank you to the whole Tunbury staff team. This academic year has been fantastic, with so much success for children’s learning, and none of this could have happened without the dedication of our staff. Thank you for all the kind words, as well as end-of-year gifts, which staff have received this week from parents/carers. We know that at Tunbury, children, parents/carers and staff are a team and we value your support to help our children achieve even more.
Today, we’re also thinking of our fabulous Year 6 children – we are SO proud of them! Like all of us, they have been through a challenging couple of years, with Covid disruption significantly affecting their primary school life. Despite this, they are a credit to our school and our families – in this week’s Year 6 production, The Emoji Musical, their positivity, enthusiasm, talent and teamwork really shone through. Fabulous job everyone! This afternoon, we said our final goodbyes in our Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly. We all wish every single one of them the very best for their future.
Congratulations to our Year 6 award-winners from today’s final assembly:
Shihab Ahmed: Outstanding attitude and achievement in English
Madeleine Keane: Outstanding attitude and achievement in Maths
Orla McGarry: Outstanding attitude and effort
Damian Magege: Headteacher award
We are also saying goodbye to staff members who are moving on at the end of this academic year: Miss Byrne, Miss Sibborn, Mrs Grist, Miss Adams and Mrs Poxon. Also, we are saying just a temporary goodbye to Mrs Smith, as she’ll be on secondment for one year from September. To all of our leaving staff: thankyou. Everyone in the Tunbury school community appreciates your many contributions– we all wish you well for your next steps, wherever they might take you.
To our families, I hope that you all enjoy a lovely summer break – enjoy your family time together, take care of each other and we look forward to seeing you after the holidays. Next year’s adventures begin on Monday 5th September!
End of Term Team Points: Well done to Attenborough team! As their reward, children in Attenborough team had extra playtime today. Today’s extra fact: throughout this academic year, there have been an amazing 120,476 house points awarded to all teams!
Kent Libraries Summer Reading Challenge 2022: Saturday 9th July – Saturday 10th September, The Summer Reading Challenge introduces families to their library, encourages children to choose books freely and independently and addresses the “dip” in children's reading that can occur over the summer holidays, if they don’t have regular access to books, and encouragement to read for pleasure. Kent Libraries are also offering children the option to take part either by visiting their local library or virtually, plus free virtual and in person events. Find out more at your local library, visit bit.ly/Gadgeteers2022, our dedicated Summer Reading Challenge page or follow Kent Libraries social media pages – Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to find out more about the Gadgeteers and all the exciting events and activities happening this summer in Kent Libraries.
