Weekly Bulletin: Thursday 7th May 2020
Messages for children at home
Did you have a go at singing our school song and house songs? I sent the links to these songs in last week’s bulletin. I can just imagine you all joining in at home, a bit like a normal school assembly but happening in lots of different places in Walderslade (and beyond). Maybe your parents already knew the words – I’m sure that we must have some S Club 7 fans among our Mums and Dads!
I hope that you are all able to enjoy the sunshine over the long bank holiday weekend. Did you know that this bank holiday (an extra day off school) is happening on a Friday to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day? This is an important date in history which marked the end of World War II, which children in Year 6 should know all about from their recent topic.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. Stay safe and have fun.
I hope you are still enjoying the stories on the Tunbury website? It has been a short but busy week. I am going to celebrate VE Day with an afternoon tea including homemade scones in the garden. How will you be celebrating? Thank you to everyone who is joining in with the Thought for the Week blogs on Purple Mash – it would be lovely to hear from more of you.
Keep staying safe.
Headteacher’s message for parents/carers
A short bulletin today for a short week! We hope that all of our families are coping well at home as lockdown continues.
Today was a special day in school as we said thank you and goodbye to our Site Manager Graham Evans, who is retiring. We are especially grateful to Mr Evans for delaying his retirement in order to support our school over recent weeks, which has been a challenging time for us all. We hope that he is now able to enjoy a long and happy retirement and wish him all the very best for the future.
Reminder: tomorrow is a bank holiday, so school will not be open and home learning will not be set until Monday.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and your families.
SEN/AEN: There are two new resources on the SEN/ AEN page. There is a thoughts and feelings book resource for pupils to complete and a document for parents to help support children struggling with the isolation of the virus. Please find these links below. https://www.tunbury.kent.sch.uk/docs/thoughts_and_feelings_book_-_covid-19__1_.pdf https://www.tunbury.kent.sch.uk/docs/supporting_children_with_ld__asd_with_covid_isolation.pdf
Swattenden: We have been in touch with the Swattenden centre about our next steps and have been considering alternative arrangements. However in light of the continuing uncertainty with our present situation we have decided to refund the payments made. We are hoping to process the refunds in the next couple of weeks.
