Headteacher’s Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have reached the end of a busy and exciting term!  It has been a delight to see children enjoying their learning and contributing with such enthusiasm to school life.  As a final example of Tunbury teamwork for the Autumn term, this week children and staff have worked together in their house teams to create new collaborative artwork for the hall.  As you’ll see from the photos, the results are fantastic – a true celebration of teamwork and creativity!  Everyone contributed a small part (stars, feathers, handprints or arm artworks) to the finished product, bringing these to our first whole-school house team assemblies. The displays will remain in the hall until July for you to see.  Later this year, we’ll also be expanding the focus of our house teams to include music and sports events.

We’re very sorry to be saying goodbye today to our Pink class teacher, Miss Blundell, who is leaving us to relocate to Perth in Australia in the new year.  On behalf of everyone at Tunbury, I would like to thank Miss Blundell for her hard work and wish her all the very best for her exciting adventures down under.  We hope to see her return to Tunbury one day, if she has ever had enough of the sunshine and beaches!!

We finished the term with some fun today, with a special Christmas edition of ‘Teacher Joke Spin’ in assemblies.  I must say that the quality of teachers’ jokes was…….. pretty good, as shown by the following examples:

What does an elf learn in school? The ELF-abet!

Why is it so cold at Christmas? Because it’s Decemberrrrrrr!

Why shouldn’t you eat the Christmas decorations? Because you might get tinsel-itus!

Finally, all that remains is for me to wish everyone in the Tunbury school community a very Happy Christmas. I hope that you enjoy a wonderful Christmas break and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school in 2020!

Best wishes

Ruth Austin

Headteacher
